UN program disseminates prejudices against Mestizos

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) released a report “written mainly by indigenous leaders and experts” with several derogatory statements against Mestizos and mestizaje (mixing).

The “study” creates a category called “white-mestizo population”.

Classify Mestizos as “white men” is a strategy of the Verwoerdist indigenism that aims delete the native character of the mestizos and, consequently, their original cultural and territorial rights, allowing their ethnocide and ethnic cleansing in the creations of exclusive territories for Amerindians peoples.

The UNDP has the copyright © of the report, entitled ‘Intercultural Citizenship—Contributions from the political participation of indigenous peoples in Latin America’ (in the original Spanish, ‘Ciudadanía Intercultural – Aportes desde la participación política de los pueblos indígenas de Latinoamérica’), which was carried out “with the auspices” of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), belonging to the government of Spain.

The document associates Mestizos exclusively with white, European origins, silencing the obvious fact mestizos were also generated by the pre-Columbian indigenous (and not just with whites), as seen in the passage, “For over half a century, the Ayoreode thicken Bolivia’s indigenous population, a mosaic of peoples and cultures whose common denominator is their nativism versus the creole mestizo population of European origin” [“Desde hace más de medio siglo, los ayoreode engrosan la población indígena de Bolivia, un mosaico de pueblos y culturas cuyo común denominador es su nativismo frente a la población criollo mestiza de origen europeo”].

About the “cholos”, as are called mestizos of indigenous and white origin in several Latin American countries from Spanish colonization, the report repeat the depreciation strategy used in Brazil against words referring to mestizos as “caboclo”, “pardo” (brown) and mulatto. This fact is observed in the passage, “‘cholos’ (that remits contemptuous word for al mixed Andean indigenous)” [“‘cholos’ (palabra despectiva que remite al indígena andino amestizado) ].

The inverse of the obvious fact of the Mestizos has been generated by the Indians, and not otherwise, appears in this comment on the mixing would have occurred in Peru, “The 2007 survey does not show fully the ethnic cultural reality, because the aggressive political discourse for the integration of the native people to the culture of Hispanic origin has resulted in collective low self-esteem that found in the cholificación the path of mixing integrator” [“La encuesta de 2007 no muestra a cabalidad la realidad étnica cultural, por cuanto el agresivo discurso político para la integración de la población autóctona a la cultura de origen hispana ha resultado en una baja autoestima colectiva 209 que encuentra en la cholificación el camino del mestizaje integrador “]. Mestizos are not Indians, but are also a native population.

The site UNDP adopts the discourse of the MAS (the party of the president Evo Morales) and states that “in Bolivia (…) indigenous peoples are the majority of the population”. In the last census of Bolivia, Mestizo people were not counted because the indigenous government of Evo Morales excluded the category ‘mestizo’.

The results of a search on the website of UNDP with the entries ‘indigenous’ and ‘mestizo’ are indicative of the emphasis on Amerindians and Mestizos by this United Nations program.

Verwoerdism resurge in Latin America

The Verwoerdismo, the ideology of the Dutchman Hendrik Verwoerd, the inventor of apartheid, failed in South Africa, but in Latin America, supported by NGOs and by certain European governments, a ‘white-indigenist’ version was developed and gained power in the region, having as one of its goals to eliminate Mestizo ethnicity.

The descendants of enslaved Indians in Latin America during European colonialism are mainly in the Mestizo people.

Original Amerindians persons don’t existe, or are very rare. After 500 years, the current Amerindians populations, target by Verwoerdism, are formed by groups who survived from slavery (usually admixed populations that have been absorbed by Amerindians groups) or, as has been happening more recently, with the encouragement of mestizophobic policies of certain governments in Latin American, like in Brazil, mixed people have come to identify themselves as Indians.

One of the main “incentives” to increase the Indian population in Brazil is the fear of Mestizos suffer ethnic cleansing, what happens in the creations of exclusive lands for Indians by Latin American governments, like the Brazilian, leaded by the white president Dilma Rousseff.

The Mestizo Nation, the association of the Brazilian Mestizo people, will send your protest against the publication to UNDP.
