The Dutch NGO Greenpeace activists climbed the mast the national flag, in the Square of the Three Powers in Brasilia, and hoisted below the flag of Brazil another in support of the National Indigenous Weeks Mobilization against PEC 215. The PEC 215 aims to pass from the Executive to the Legislative the final decision on the creation of federal Bantustans for Amerindians, hindering the process of ethnic cleansing against the Mestizo people (the native ethnic group consisting of mixed descendants of Amerindians, Europeans and other peoples). The Mestizo people, although Native of the Bantustan’s territory, are segregated from the Amerindians and expelled after (and sometimes during) the creation of the Bantustan.
According to the website of the NGO, a group of nearly 100 self-declared Amerindians danced and song around the mast of the Brazilian national flag in support of the protest of the Greenpeace activists who were performing the activity.
